A FOCUS ON THE SCIENCE
Across the country and Overseas
New science is emerging that suggests Lyme disease may be much more serious than is widely acknowledged. This science is peer-reviewed and is coming from world-renowned universities such as Northeastern, Columbia, Drexel, Johns Hopkins, Duke, Tulane, and Stanford University.
We will focus on this emerging research and relate it back to the patient experience.
What does this research tell us about the future of Lyme disease?
What questions does it raise about its past?
we will conduct ONE-ON-ONE INTERVIEWS WITH LEADING voices:
- Doctors from both sides of the debate, who maintain they are practicing evidence-based medicine to help their patients
- Scientists from both sides of the debate, who conduct Lyme disease research that lead to conflicting scientific facts
- Policy-makers are under increasing pressure from patients to enact legislation at both the state and federal level
we will develop intimate portraits of those AFFECTED:
- Patients are caught in the middle of this debate, and are not sure whether they are hurting or healing themselves
- Families don't know who to trust, or where to ask for help—their daily lives are dominated by Lyme disease
- Communities are split between complacency and advocacy, as they struggle to understand this growing epidemic
we will analyze thE EVOLUTION OF lyme SCIENCE:
Scientific Evidence will be compiled and compared—and we will feature only peer-reviewed, published studies
We will revisit + INTERPRET the history of lyme:
Historical Evidence will be analyzed through scientific studies, legal documents, communications and archival material
